Founded in 2010 Look mum no hands! was a trailblazer combining a cafe, a bicycle workshop, a bar, and exhibition space to become one of the first 'cycle cafes' in London.

Look Mum No Hands! is a cyclist's heaven. You'll spot it along Old Street with bikes hanging in the windows like pieces of art, & lush indoor plants giving it the classic east London decor vibe. The abundance of seating inside & out makes it a perfect hub for groups to meet, especially after a ride out of town or around Regent's Park. Then what's more perfect, than having your bike fixed in their workshop, whilst sipping a great coffee & watching the grand tours on a big screen!?

Coffee

They serve a really good, local coffee that comes from a roasting company in East London. Their flat white is everything you could expect from coffee specialists!

Cake

An ideal selection of savouries and cakes. Last time I went (squeezing in just 20 minutes before closing time) the only cake left was a slice of chocolate and mandarin loaf... But this is actually my favourite go-to when I've been riding (after anything chocolate of course). I wasn't disappointed and I will definitely be back at a more reasonable time to try them all.

Bike Friendly?

It's hard to know where to start with a place like this, which has so much well thought out decoration and personality - it feels like you are in a little bike museum! Everything is well thought out for cyclists - it has a bike rack outside and seating in the courtyard (weather permitting!). I was even allowed to leave my bike inside without it being a problem, as I was worried to leave him all alone out there! They also have a bike pump & locks for you to use, and an onsite mechanics/workshops where they can do all sorts of repairs & tweaks. The cafe also includes a shop section with their custom jerseys, caps & all sort of bike related merchandise for sale.

The 50 + indoor seatings is perfect for a club gathering after a bike ride or during events, and the outdoor space seems ideal for summer days. But the best part is being able to watch the grand tours on a big projection screen!

Service

I received the warmest welcome & biggest smile from David, who took my order as we chatted about the cafe.

In the meantime Ieva prepared my coffee - she was also super lovely - and despite hitting a busy period I didn't have to wait too long. The service is very efficient, and the staff are friendly & cheerful.

Location

This place can be quite busy as it's located in central/east London, and a lot of people work here during the week (plenty of space & sockets). It's also just a 10 minutes ride from Regent's Park, which makes it a perfect stop after morning laps. Several east-end bike clubs even use its has a clubhouse.

Keep an eye for their pop up cafe's around London this summer! More info on the website (linked above)!

Summary

We love this place so much that we can't wait to go back. We will for sure be there this summer to watch a few stages of Le Tour de France in the best festive environment! We love this place so much that we cannot wait to go back. Especially to watch le Tour de France with our cycling friends this summer, because the atmosphere will be amazing!

Quick note on the review process

We either find the cafe's on our cycling adventures, or we're directed to them by friends. From there we rock up on the bike, order coffee, soak up the vibe and speak with the staff. Once we've been there 4/5 times we'll write the review.
