Surry Hills Palma

In the heart of Palmas city centre, tucked away in a small pedestrian street you'll find the unassuming corner coffee shop Surry Hills. A light, airy space with plenty of plants, wood, a carefully selected neon sign and some traditional tiles that seem to have been there since it was built. The cafe is welcoming, warm, and the staff carry the theme through with great service and a smile. The Australian roots are on show with Vegemite and Tim Tams on a dedicated shelve amongst keep cups and screen printed t-shirts. Glancing around at the glass cake stand, Victoria Arduino grinder and spotless work space - I know that you're in good hands.

Coffee & Cake

Great coffee supplied by local roasters Mistral, and pulled through a LaMarzocco espresso machine provides a pretty fantastic flat white! The selection of cakes was equally outstanding - the Albajar de almendraz finding a new home in my very happy face. We also cannot recommend the wider food menu enough, as the Salmon and dill poached egg was just one of the dishes that blew us away.

Bike Friendly?

Whilst not a cycling dedicated cafe, it's definitely bike friendly! The team were so welcoming, and the bike hooks outside make good use of the space outside.

Service

Really great. Where ever you go, what ever you are doing, you just can't beat a welcome smile and a hello when you walk through the door. The team here are happy, friendly and up for a bit of a laugh. We were offered out choice of table or takeaway, provided menu's and a little chat and had a coffee in our hands within a few minutes. They say you should spend your day with people who radiate positivity - and these guys make me want to live at Surry Hills!

Location

In the centre of Palma Surry Hills is a 5-10 minute walk from anywhere in the city, so if you're in town it's another must visit. If like us you're based on the East coast of the island (or even central) it's a great opportunity to get the train into town & stop there for a warm brunch, before riding back across the island. If yo want to shake up the usual cycling routes, this could be gem to a great day out.

Summary for Surry Hills Palma

A top scoring, brilliant coffee shop with a warm and friendly team who love what they do. Drop in for a coffee, eat cake, and enjoy the positive vibes. We did, and we will again soon!

Quick note on the review process

We either find the cafe's on our cycling adventures, or we're directed to them by friends. From there we rock up on the bike, order coffee, soak up the vibe and speak with the staff. Once we've been there 4/5 times we'll write the review.
